Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal on Sunday shared pictures of the "war room" at the company headquarters as the food delivery giant prepared for the massive surge in orders on New Year's Eve -- one of the busiest days for the hospitality industry
With cans of Coke and of course, food, executives appeared hunched over their laptops on common tables as several teams have converged to deal with the increased number of orders on December 31.
"Ready to get (India’s) party started," Goyal captioned the photos.
Last year, on New Year's Eve, Deepinder Goyal announced he would take a short break from working in office to deliver a couple of orders himself. “Going to deliver a couple of orders on my own right now. Should be back in an hour or so,” Goyal tweeted this evening. He also updated his Twitter bio to read "delivery boy @zomato and @letsblinkit."
“My first delivery brought me back to the zomato office. Lolwut!” he tweeted minutes later, sharing a picture that shows him wearing the signature red Zomato uniform with a couple of food boxes in hand.
He also revealed that the number of orders delivered via the company on New Year's Eve last year was more than the orders they had delivered during the first three years of Zomato's delivery service.
Taking to X, Goyal wrote, "Fun fact: orders delivered today greater than the sum of all orders delivered in the first 3 years of our food delivery service."
Zomato is expecting a similar response this year.
