RBI Board meet held in Bengaluru, macro developments in focus

Two other specific areas of operations of the Reserve Bank of India, namely, the Reserve Bank’s budget and constitution of Monetary Policy Committee were also discussed.

Central Board of Reserve Bank of India met today in Bengaluru. RBI Governor Raghuram G Rajan, chaired the meeting. The Central Board met in Bengaluru after a span of seven years. In the meeting the Central Board discussed, among other issues, macroeconomic developments and two other specific areas of operations of the Reserve Bank of India, namely, the Reserve Bank’s budget and constitution of Monetary Policy Committee. The Board also reviewed the activities of the Board for Payment and Settlement System for the year ended March 2016 and discussed the draft Annual Report for 2015-16.Besides Deputy Governors of the Reserve Bank of India Urjit R Patel, Shri R Gandhi, Shri SS Mundra and Shri NS Vishwanathan, the other Directors of the Central Board present at the meeting were: Nachiket M Mor, Prof. Damodar Acharya, Shri Natarajan Chandrasekaran, Shri Bharat N Doshi and Shri Sudhir Mankad. The meeting was also attended by Government nominee director on the Central Board, Shri Shaktikanta Das, Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Government of India.
