In an interview with CNBC-TV18, Sanjaya Baru, Business Standard said, "All of us expect Amit Mitra to become Finance Minister of Bengal." He expects Mamata Banerjee to be a different person in government and she would focus on improving job opportunities in Bengal.

Below is the verbatim transcript of his interview with Reema Tendulkar and Gautam Broker of CNBC-TV18. Q: Post this the UPA government does appear very fortified but the negotiating powers will come to be tested this time with very power ladies at the helm of both their states one West Bengal and other is Tamil Nadu. How different do you think Jayalalitha will be this time around, will she continue to adopt the vendetta politics that she had seen in her last term? What about Mamata Banerjee because she was previously seen as more of a populist and a socialist person, will she be very industry friendly? A: I think so. All of us expect Amit Mitra to become Finance Minister of Bengal. He has been Secretary General of FICCI for almost two decades, so I would expect she would want business to come into Bengal. In government she would be a very different person. Her focus would be entirely on improving job opportunities in Bengal. So I am not too worried about what kind of policies she would adopt. Mamta Banerjee will not be anti-industry: Manini Chatterjee Q: What about the Centre then, Trinamool is UPA ally, do you think because she is populist she could choose to oppose reforms anything on the diesel, oil front? A: In the run up to election is different from what you will be once you are in the government. She has got an absolute majority, a very impressive majority in Bengal. Her job will be in Kolkata. She cannot devote anytime to what is happening in Delhi. My own assumption is she would allow her colleagues in Delhi to be part of the government and support the Prime Minister in Delhi.
