Sachin Tendulkar and Bill Gates recently engaged in a friendly game of "Crennis" (a mix of "a little bit of cricket and a little bit of tennis") and a video of their humourous interaction, shared by the cricketing legend, is now viral. The stalwarts came together to highlight the work being done by their charitable foundations and also, possibly, to participate in a podcast hosted by billionaire Zerodha co-founder, Nikhil Kamath.
The 1.13 minute-long video shows Gates about to serve a tennis ball, but Tendulkar adopted a cricketer’s batting stance as if facing a fast bowler, catching Gates off guard. The Microsoft co-founder said, “I thought we were playing tennis.” Tendulkar replied, “Bill, I said ‘Crennis’—a little bit of cricket, a little bit of tennis.” Eventually, the game led to Gates being dismissed. "Bill, you're out!" the Master Blaster shouted, laughing.
The caption accompanying Tendulkar’s post read, “Sport teaches us teamwork, life demands the same. Crennis was fun, but the real action is brewing with the Sachin Tendulkar Foundation & Gates Foundation.”
Soon, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella joined in and commented: "Looks like I found my next sport! I look forward to trying my hand at Crennis with you both."
Meanwhile, Nikhil Kamath also took to X and praised his podcast team for producing the fun video. "Wtf started as a group of buddies hanging with a camera at my Bangalore apartment one weekend a month, looks like it's growing into something else now," he wrote. "Killer job @all_things_WTF (his podcast team) on making this... P.S. We pick clients who are fun, not the other way around."
What Bill Gates said about meeting Sachin Tendulkar
This is not the first time that Bill Gates met Sachin tendulkar in India. In 2023, the Microsoft co-founder met Tendulkar and his wife in Mumbai and called it a “wonderful learning opportunity to gain perspectives on philanthropy.”
Tendulkar said that he and Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates shared ideas on philanthropy when they met. “We are all students for life. Today was a wonderful learning opportunity to gain perspectives on philanthropy - including children’s healthcare, which our Foundation works on,” the cricket legend wrote. “Sharing ideas is a powerful way to solve the world’s challenges. Thank you for the insights Bill Gates,” he added.
Gates responded by saying he had a great time learning more about the work that Tendulkar has done for children’s healthcare.
