SEBI trying to woo Employees Provident Fund Organisation

The job of the regulator is not just about making regulations and enforcing them. It's about market development as well. That's the word from SEBI chief UK Sinha, as he makes yet another attempt to woo Employees Provident Fund Organisation to invest in the capital markets. CNBC-TV18's Swathi Narayanan reports


Of late, investor interest in the financial markets has been dropping, and SEBI chief UK Sinha is scrambling to get them back. His biggest grouse is that while 15% of the funds with the EPFO can be invested in the markets, none of it is... and he admits it's because investors are worried about the safety of their investment.
Month after month and meetings after meetings, UK Sinha said, the concern on the minds of trustees used to be Is it a safe market, what are the safeguards.
