Xiaomi launches MIUI 12 in India; here's the list of eligible devices and what's new

Xiaomi claims the new MIUI 12 update creates an “ultra-smooth UI experience which is embodied in system-wide animations and visualisations.” The update comes with features like an app drawer for sorting apps and dark mode.

MIUI 12 also lets users remove sensitive information like the location and the metadata before sharing a picture with anyone. It also allows one to delete a screenshot automatically after sharing, which in turn helps one save space and maintain privacy. Xiaomi claimed MiUi 12 is the first mobile operating system to have passed TÜV Rheinland’s Android System Enhanced Privacy Protection Test. The company has introduced a new ‘virtual ID’ security protocol that restricts suspicious apps from trying to get hands on to the user’s personal information.

Select devices will also get a feature called ‘Super Wallpapers’ which includes high-resolution 3D wallpapers of the Moon, Earth, and Mars. There is also a new Dark Mode 2.0 that dims the background wallpaper and adjusts the font brightness.  

The new Xiaomi custom Android skin features a new interface and comes with Super Visual Design that presents data in the form of graphs and visual diagrams for easier understanding of information.  

The list of MIUI 12 upgrades also includes new animations for smoother user experience, a new notification shade with bigger buttons and sliders.

Exclusive to Mi 10, the Magic Clone feature will allow users to create and make virtual doppelganger images or videos more interesting. Available under “More” in MIUI 12’s Camera app, using this feature one can capture the same person up to four times at different intervals of time. From a camera perspective, Mi 10 along with other Xiaomi devices will feature vlog mode and AI watermark.
