Twitter is reportedly facing yet another issue, according to several users on the platform. Several Twitter users have reported seeing tweets of people or accounts they do not follow.
Since the early hours of March 10, Twitter users have been reporting what appears to be a bug in Twitter’s algorithm with tweets from random users they don’t follow showing up in their Twitter feeds. I have also been experiencing the same issues in my ‘For You’ section.
Twitter previously released an update that forced its users to see suggested tweets on their ‘For You’ tab, every time they opened the app. However, the platform was quick to reserve this decision after complaints from its users. So it won’t be surprising if the most recent issue is a result of an update to Twitter’s algorithm as several users have been complaining that the platform’s for you tab is showing an excessive amount of content from accounts that they aren’t following.
According to 9to5Mac, several Twitter users have claimed the tweets showing up on their ‘For You’ feed from random accounts are mostly unrelated to other accounts or the content they follow in general. Some reporters at Moneycontrol also experienced the same issue with several irrelevant tweets from random accounts showing up on their feeds.
Twitter recently rolled out controversial changes to its API that blocked users from opening links, images, and even accessing the social network through its website. Twitter also suffered a major outage earlier this week as there was only one engineer responsible for managing the tech giant’s API as CEO Elon Musk as fired key engineers from the platform.
