AI-piloted drone wins against top human racers

Drone racing is a niche but competitive sport which sees human competitors flying their drones with the aid of a headset and camera.

• Swift was trained using a digital obstacle course in a week, which is the same time given to human racers to learn the obstacle course.


• This method of training AI is called Deep Reinforcement Learning. The AI learns through trial and error, with correct actions being rewarded and the wrong discouraged.

Samsung launches AI-powered personalised food and recipe app

It can also create tailored meal plans according to diet and can order ingredients needed for the recipes online.

• Samsung says Food will provide a step-by-step guide on how to prepare and create dishes. The company has partnered with Whisk, a smart food platform, that it acquired in 2019.


• The app will run on supported smartphones and smart home appliances from Samsung. Users can sort through the recipes and save them.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III will use AI for chat moderation

Activision has partnered with Modulate, and will use the company's AI solution called ToxMod.

• The technology will attempt to identify instances of hate speech in real time and flag chats that it deems offensive.


• Modulate says it evaluates "what is being said" but also the context of "how it is said and how other players respond to it". Once a conversation is flagged, it is bought to the attention of moderators, who will then take action.
