Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar said that the government is working on a comprehensive strategy to get compute capacity for AI through the public and private sector, and an announcement on the same could be expected by January.

India's goal in artificial intelligence (AI) is not to compete with the likes of Silicon Valley bigshots Sam Altman or Elon Musk in developing the technology, but to build real-life use cases in sectors like agriculture, education, and healthcare to transform the lives of citizens, Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar said on December 6.

"Our goal is not to compete with Sam Altman or Elon Musk or win the next Noble Prize, but transform lives of people with use cases. AI will be used to build capabilities in real-life use cases," he said.
