In 2019, as many as 777,000 students appeared for the West Bengal Class 12 Board exam, out of the 790,000 that registered. Pass percentage in 2019 was 86.29 percent. This year, 800,000 students have appeared for the exam across the state. There will be no merit list this year, while in 2019 139 students took the top 10 spots. The results have been delayed a little this year due to the coronavirus pandemic. The examinations were held in March, but some papers had to be cancelled due to the lockdown. The remaining papers were held on June 29, July 2 and July 6. Thus, while results in 2019, were declared on May 27, this year it is on July 17 (today).

Das further said the results link on the board websites will be made available at 4 pm today for download, which students can also print out for reference. For those who opt for review or scrutiny, please note that the scrutiny fees have been reduced to Rs 50 from Rs 60, and the review fees have been cut to Rs 75 from Rs 100.
Diverging from the country-wide pattern, boys fared better than girls in the West Bengal HS 12th board exams as well. As many as 90.44 percent boys pass the exam, while 90 percent girls made it through.
The West Bengal HS Class 12 Board has recorded its highest even pass percentage of 90.13 percent for 2020, compared to 86.29 percent in 2019. As many as 6.8 lakh students passed teh exam from the 7.61 lakh that attempted it.
Among districts, Kolkata recorded the highest pass percentage. As many as 30,220 students secured 90 percent and above in the Class 12 exam.
The board does not have a merit or toppers list this year, but Das said the candidate with the highest marks scored 499/500.

Admissions for undergraduate courses in West Bengal in 2020 will be conducted online. Students will not be called for counselling or verification of documents due to the COVID-19 pandemic, state Higher Education department said. For assessment, since multiple papers were cancelled, the WBCHSE said it will follow the CBSE formula and calculate a student’s best mark out of all the exams that they have written and consider it for the exams they could not attempt.
In 2019, pass percentage for the Class 12th Board in West Bengal was 86.92 percent - higher than the 83.75 percent recorded in 2018. In terms of gender, 87.44 percent male candidates pass the exam in 2019, compared to 85.30 percent of girls. Among the state districts, Kolkata, Kalimpong, East Mindapore and West Mindapore each recorded pass percentage of 90 percent or above. As much as 7,818 candidates overall secured 90 percent and above, compared to 5,241 students in 2018.
