‘No GST on education’: Khan Sir appeals to PM Modi after GST rationalisation

Marking Teachers’ Day on September 5, Khan Sir also paid tribute to former President Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.

Educator and YouTuber Khan Sir, on Friday, appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to remove the 18 percent Goods and Services Tax (GST) on education, while welcoming the recent rationalisation of the tax structure.

Khan Sir, while speaking to ANI, stated, “We also want to inform the Prime Minister that an 18 per cent GST is also levied on good education given in institutes. In my opinion, there should be no GST on education.”

He, however, welcomed the decision to raise taxes on luxury goods, describing it as a positive step.

“I hope that next time, when the Prime Minister gives a speech at the Red Fort, he will consider giving a Holi gift, just as he did for Diwali this time... Increasing the GST on luxury items is a good step,” he remarked.
