Fresh spells of rain lashed parts of the national capital on Saturday, prompting the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to issue an 'orange' alert, warning of more showers, thunderstorms, and gusty winds throughout the day.
Light to moderate rainfall was reported across east, west, south, and southeast Delhi, with the IMD forecasting wind speeds between 30 to 50 km/h in the coming hours.
Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 28.7 degree Celsius, 0.8 degrees above the seasonal average, while the maximum is expected to settle around 37 degree Celsius. Humidity stood at 72% at 8:30 am, contributing to sultry conditions.
The air quality remained in the “satisfactory” category, with an AQI of 86 at 10 am, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).
Rain-triggered waterlogging led to traffic snarls on several key routes, including PRAT Road in Sheikh Sarai, ITO, Minto Bridge, Zakhira underpass, and Dhaula Kuan.
The Delhi Traffic Police issued multiple advisories, asking commuters to avoid low-lying and flooded stretches.
Municipal authorities are working to drain water and restore normal traffic flow. With the orange alert still in place for Delhi-NCR, residents are urged to stay indoors unless necessary and remain cautious while commuting.
