The Press Information Bureau's Fact Check division on Thursday debunked a post on Pakistani social media that the US warned PM Narendra Modi that Pakistan would launch a major attack unless certain conditions were accepted and India accepted immediately.
The PIB Fact Check division said that the claim is not only misleading, but only presents a part of his full statement.
"During the interview with Newsweek, EAM @DrSJaishankar said that Prime Minister told US "if Pakistan launched an attack on India, there would be a response from us!" EAM also said, the next morning, following India's massive response, "Mr. Rubio called me up and said the Pakistanis were ready to talk," read the statement from PIB's Fact Check division.
Earlier today, Foreign Minister S Jaishankar said Operation Sindoor conveyed to the world with great clarity that India will act against terrorism, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar said in a statement in line with the U.N. Security Council calling for those responsible for the Pahalgam attacks to be brought to justice.
A joint statement issued by Quad Foreign Ministers— Jaishankar, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Foreign Minister of Australia Penny Wong, and Japanese Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya— unequivocally condemned all acts of terrorism and violent extremism in all their forms and manifestations, including cross-border terrorism. The Quad Foreign Ministers condemned in the “strongest terms” the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which left 26 people dead.
