Union Power Minister Piyush Goyal today said Kerala can buy electricity at lower rates if it faces power shortage.

"Right now, power is available at Rs 2.80 per unit. The state should buy it," the Minister told reporters when his attention was drawn to the power crisis the state is set to face during this summer.

There is enough power available to meet the situation, the Minister said.

The Minister was in Kochi today to inaugurate the Digi Dhan Mela at the Cochin International Airport Convention Centre at nearby Nedumbassery.
