India, Azerbaijan explore ways to push trade, investment

India and Azerbaijan have discussed ways to increase bilateral trade and investment in areas like transport, energy, agriculture and pharmaceuticals.

The issues, among others, were discussed during the fourth session of India-Azerbaijan Inter-governmental Commission on Trade and Economic, Scientific and Technological Cooperation meeting last month in Baku.

"The issues pertaining to cooperation in the field of increasing bilateral trade and enhancing bilateral investment, cooperation in SMEs, transport, energy, tourism, pharmaceuticals, ICT, education, chemicals and petrochemicals sector were discussed," the commerce and industry ministry said in a statement today.

The bilateral trade in goods between the countries stood at only USD 110.47 million in 2015-16.
