HUL has posted net profit at Rs 1090 crore in January-March quarter, up 7 percent from Rs 1018 crore in corresponding quarter last fiscal. Total revenue in Q4 rose 3.5 percent at Rs 7945 crore against Rs 7675 crore in year-ago period.
According to a CNBC-TV18 poll, the FMCG major was seen reporting net profit at Rs 996 crore in Q4FY16, marginally down by 2 percent and revenue was expected to rise 4 percent at Rs 7990 crore on annual basis. Analysts polled by CNBC-TV18 was hoping HUL to see volume growth of 5-6 percent in Q4.
However, volume growth of 4 percent (YoY) in the quarter was disapointing. Volume growth in the year-ago period was at 6 percent.
During the quarter, its EBITDA grew 11.3 percent at Rs 1466 crore against Rs 1317 crore while EBITDA margins stood at 18.5 percent versus 17.2 percent year-on-year.
HUL said that lower input cost resulted in 240 bps reduction in cost of goods sold. The company also added Q4 growth was impacted by phasing out of excise duty incentives.
Segment-wise, its soaps and detergents revenue was up 2 percent at Rs 3752 crore, EBITD margins stood at 14.5 percent versus 13.3 percent (YoY). Personal products revenue jumped 2.8 percent at Rs 2312 crore, EBIT margins was at 29.5 percent versus 27.7 percent.
Beverages revenue grew 6.1 percent at Rs 1036 crore while packaged foods revenue jumped 11.5 percent at Rs 532 crore.
For the full year, its net profit fell 6.4 percent at Rs 4082 crore from Rs 4363 crore (YoY). HUL's revenue increased 4 percent at Rs 32483 crore against Rs 31200 crore. EBITDA margins for FY16 stood at 16.1 percent against Rs 14.9 percent (YoY).
