Eternal Ltd (formerly Zomato), which operates food delivery platform Zomato and quick commerce firm Blinkit, on October 16 reported a 63 percent year-on-year (YoY) decline in quarterly profit after tax (PAT) at Rs 65 crore in the second quarter (Q2) of financial year 2025-26 (FY26), down from Rs 176 crore in the same period a year ago.
The company, which re-branded itself from Zomato to Eternal in March, had reported a net profit of Rs 25 crore in the previous quarter.
Zomato’s revenue from operations rose 183 percent YoY to Rs 13,590 crore in Q2, up from Rs 4,799 crore a year ago. It had reported a revenue of Rs 7,167 crore in the previous quarter.
Total expenses for the Gurugram-based firm increased 188 percent to Rs 13,813 crore in the quarter ended September, up from Rs 4,783 crore a year ago and Rs 7,433 crore a quarter ago.
Zomato ended the quarter with a cash balance of Rs 18,314 crore, down from Rs 18,857 crore in the previous quarter.
The Deepinder Goyal-led company announced incorporation of a wholly-owned subsidiary in the name of Eternal General Service Foundation (“Eternal Foundation”).
Food delivery
Adjusted revenue for its food delivery business increased 22 percent YoY to Rs 2,863 crore in the September quarter, up from Rs 2,340 crore in the year ago period. On a sequential basis, revenue from Rs 2,657 crore a quarter ago.
The net order value (NOV) for this business increased from Rs 8,967 crore in Q1FY26 to Rs 9,423 crore in the September quarter. On a yearly basis, NOV increased from Rs 8,281 crore in Q2FY25.
The average monthly transacting customers (MTCs) for Zomato's food delivery vertical increased to 24.1 million from 22.9 million a quarter ago. The platform had 20.7 million MTCs in the year-ago period.
Blinkit
Zomato’s quick commerce arm Blinkit reported a (EBITDA) loss of Rs 156 crore in Q2FY26, up from a loss of Rs 8 crore incurred during the same period last year, on account of the company’s rapid dark store expansion.
On a sequential basis, however, the adjusted EBITDA loss was lower than Rs 162 crore recorded in Q1FY26.
Blinkit's revenue increased a massive 756 percent YoY to Rs 9,891 crore, up from Rs 1,156 crore in Q2 FY25, on account of the company shifting to an inventory ownership model. It reported a revenue of Rs 2,400 crore in the previous quarter.
Meanwhile, its NOV for the quarter increased 137 percent to Rs 11,679 crore in the September quarter, compared to Rs 4,928 crore in Q2 FY25 and Rs 9,203 crore in the previous quarter.
Blinkit’s net average order value (AOV) stayed relatively flat sequentially at Rs 524 in Q2, from Rs 521 in the previous quarter and was slightly lower than Rs 531 in the year-ago period.
Its dark store count increased YoY from 791 last year to 1,816 in Q2 FY26, and average monthly transacting users reached 20.8 million this quarter from 8.9 million in Q2 FY25.
Going out
Revenue for Zomato’s Going Out business declined almost 26 percent YoY to Rs 189 crore in Q2, compared to Rs 154 crore in Q2 FY25, and Rs 207 crore in Q1 FY26.
NOV for the business, on the other hand, increased to Rs 2,063 crore in Q2, from Rs 2,313 crore a quarter ago. The company reported an NOV of Rs 1,562 crore a year ago.
At 3:03 pm on October 16, Eternal shares on NSE were trading 0.6% lower at Rs 352 apiece.
