Auto sales for month of September will be released today. Sonia Shenoy of CNBC-TV18 has more details on what to expect from the numbers.

According to CNBC-TV18, it is expected to be another mixed bag for the month of September. If you look at the best performing sector, it has been the medium and heavy commercial vehicles (MHCV) for the last many months and that could continue. So MHCV industry will see 35 percent growth. That is because the prices of the products will rise from October 1 as the anti-lock braking system will become mandatory for MHCV from October 1.

To give quick expectations as far as companies are concerned -- for Maruti it will be a decent growth of around 8 percent at 1.18 lakh units led by healthy petrol demand that they have seen in the month of September and new launches like the S-Cross that have been received very favourably.

For two-wheelers like TVS Motor, there will be a degrowth this time. So total volumes will be down by almost 9.5 percent.
