The central government has allocated Rs 26,000 crore to support road connectivity projects in Bihar, the Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on July 23.
"We will also support road connectivity projects, namely Patna-Purnia expressway, Buxar – Bhagalpur, Bodhgaya-Rajgir-Vaishali and an additional two lane bridge over river Ganga at an additional cost of Rs 26,000 crore," Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on July 23.
She also said that new airports, medical facilities and sports infrastructure projects will also be setup in Bihar.
Allocation for roads and expressways and power projects as well as other infrastructure projects in Bihar, Rs 26,000 crore for road projects and Rs 21,000 crore for power projects is positive for South based construction players like NCC, KNR Constructions as well as other prominent infra EPC players like L&T and PNC Infratech Bharat Gianani, Research Analyst, Moneycontrol Pro
The allocation is expected to be a big shot in the arm for Bihar’s infrastructure Ahead of Bihar election scheduled to take place in 2025.
The Bihar government, which is led by Janata Dal (United)’s Nitish Kumar, had requested the central government last month to allocate around Rs 30,000 crore from India’s Union Budget this year to help fund projects in Bihar.
