Stand-up comedian Zakir Khan has carved his name into history by becoming the first Indian comic to headline a Hindi-language show at the iconic Madison Square Garden in New York.

The 37-year-old Indore native, who is well-known for his beloved "sakht launda" persona and moving storytelling, performed in front of  15,000, and the event was sold out.  This marks a significant milestone for Indian stand-up and Hindi comedy on the international scene.

Taking to Instagram, Zakir shared his emotions with fans, calling it a “big day” and describing how overwhelming it felt to entertain thousands of people in Hindi comedy at such a renowned venue. He extended heartfelt thanks to his friends and team, calling the performance a “special milestone” in his career.

The performance, which included fellow comedian Tanmay Bhat, was a part of his current North American tour. The audience was treated to Zakir's signature style, which has won him millions of fans, which combines poetic shayari, observational humour, and moving personal tales.

The build-up to the event reflected the scale of the achievement. His poster lit up the billboards of Times Square, and he made appearances on leading American media outlets where he spoke about the significance of bringing Hindi comedy to a venue long associated with global icons. In the lead-up, he also shared a lighthearted cooking session with celebrity chef Vikas Khanna, further highlighting the cultural crossover of the moment.
