Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan expressed deep concern over the devastating floods in Punjab this week that has cause major damage to the state.
Posting on Instagram, he wrote, “My heart goes out to those in Punjab impacted by these devastating floods. Sending prayers and strength… The spirit of Punjab shall never break… may God bless them all.”
Actress Alia Bhatt also expressed concern and sent her prayers to those affected by the floods. She wrote "My heart goes out to everyone affected by the floods in Punjab. Sending love, strength and prayers to all those impacted, and gratitude to the people working tirelessly on ground to help. May every family find the support they need to heal and rebuild."
Punjab has been hit by record-breaking rains, claiming nearly 30 lives and displacing thousands. Over 1,300 villages are submerged, while crops and livestock have been destroyed.
Rivers like the Sutlej, Ravi, and Beas have overflowed, worsening the crisis in multiple districts, including Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Fazilka, Kapurthala, Tarn Taran, Ferozepur, Hoshiarpur, and Amritsar.
Relief operations are in full swing. Teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Border Security Force (BSF), Army, and district authorities have rescued nearly 15,000 people so far. Officials say efforts continue to reach stranded residents and provide essential supplies to them.
Several Bollywood celebrities have also stepped up to help. Actors Vicky Kaushal, Kareena Kapoor, Preity Zinta, Varun Dhawan, and Ananya Panday shared emergency helplines and relief numbers on social media, urging fans to contribute or volunteer.
