Prabhas’ The Raja Saab likely to hit screens on Sankranthi 2026 instead of December 2025

Fans of pan-India star Prabhas may have to wait a little longer for the release of his much-anticipated supernatural comedy The Raja Saab. Originally scheduled for release on December 5, 2025, the film is now reportedly being pushed to January 9, 2026, to coincide with the Sankranthi festival. The decision, according to the makers, is driven by strategic business considerations and the ongoing post-production work that remains incomplete.

Producer TG Vishwa Prasad, in a recent interview with Great Andhra, revealed that after extensive discussions with distributors and other stakeholders, the team is leaning towards a Sankranthi 2026 release. The festive window is often considered a golden period for major South Indian film releases, especially in Telugu states, where the festival season tends to boost footfalls and box office returns. Prasad emphasized that while Bollywood buyers are still in favor of the original December 2025 date, the delay is necessary due to pending patchwork and song sequences, which are yet to be filmed.

Adding to the buzz, a recent birthday poster for lead actress Malavika Mohanan—who makes her Telugu debut with The Raja Saab—was released without any date mentioned. This has further fueled speculation that the film is indeed skipping a 2025 release. Malavika, alongside Nidhhi Agerwal and Ridhi Kumar, plays a significant role in this supernatural comedy, which is expected to present a fresh avatar of Prabhas, blending humor, fantasy, and mass appeal.
