Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal recently found themselves in the middle of a big legal controversy after Paresh Rawal decided to step away from their much-talked-about project Hera Pheri 3.
However, in a surprising turn of events, just days later, the veteran actor rejoined the film. Rawal has now shared an update, revealing details about the shooting schedule, confirming that the iconic franchise is indeed back on track with its original charm.
Speaking with News18 Showsha, Paresh Rawal gave a hint about the details of the popular franchise's shooting schedule beginning next year.
Hera Pheri 3 to begin filming
He said, “It’s a work in progress. We’ll start shooting for the film in February-March next year."
For those who don’t know, Paresh Rawal’s brief exit from the film reportedly led to financial hurdles for the production, which in turn prompted Akshay Kumar to take legal action against his long-time co-star. Paresh, however, explained that he had valid reasons for stepping away at the time and even returned the signing amount along with interest before eventually coming back on board.
Pares Rawal and Priyadarshan
Further, he also commented on whether the controversy affected his personal relations with the film's director Priyadarshan. “A lot has happened but that hasn’t soured my relationship with Priyadarshan. Aise rishta kharab nahi hota hai. In fact, what has happened is that it has further solidified our equation. Through all of this, we now know each in a sharper and better way. Ghaav bhar gaya hai. Our relationship is very transparent," he stated.
“I’m not a greedy actor. I’m not foolish either. I’m not someone who assumes that duniya meri wajah se chalti hai. Even if a standalone film happens someday, Shyam and Raju also need to be there," also added the actor.
The controversy
Paresh Rawal, best known as Babu Bhaiya in the much-loved comedy franchise, shocked fans on May 18 when he announced that he was stepping away from Hera Pheri 3.
His sudden exit quickly led to a controversy, especially since Akshay Kumar decided to pursue legal action against him. In fact, Akshay’s legal team had even warned Paresh of facing “serious legal consequences” if the matter wasn’t resolved.

Pooja Tidke, Joint Managing Partner at Parinam Law Associates and the legal representative for Akshay’s production house Cape of Good Films, spoke to PTI about the situation. She explained that the actor’s exit had undoubtedly hurt the franchise. “We have written to him making it clear that there are several legal consequences. The production has already incurred heavy expenses—covering cast, crew, senior actors, logistics, equipment, and even the filming of the trailer,” she said.
Despite the turbulence, Hera Pheri 3 is still on track, with the iconic trio—Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal, and Suniel Shetty—set to reunite on the big screen, much to the excitement of fans who have been waiting years for this installment.
