The trailer for "Thamma," has fiinally released and generated an indisputable buzz at Friday's launch event in Mumbai.
With Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Ayushmann Khurrana, and Rashmika Mandanna in the lead roles, the movie immediately attracted attention for both its intriguing premise and its star power. As Ayushmann's father, actor Paresh Rawal joins in on the fun, contributing his signature comedic timing.
The trailer introduced Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s character – a terrifying villain who has been locked away in a cave for what seems like an eternity.
When Ayushmann’s character unknowingly discovers him, his life begins to spiral. Strange things happen to his body: sharp fangs appear, his strength hardens like steel, and he realises he’s caught in something far bigger than himself.
Rashmika Mandanna’s role is kept under wraps, but the trailer drops hints of an emotional, layered relationship between her and Ayushmann. There’s a palpable chemistry, but also a sense of mystery about what she truly represents in the story.
If there’s one thing Maddock Films has done consistently well, it’s building India’s first horror-comedy universe. With hits like Stree, Stree 2, Munjya and Bhediya, they’ve struck a winning balance of folklore, laughter and spooks.
Thamma, the fifth instalment, continues the tradition but with a twist – the makers are calling it the first full-blown love story in the series. True to form, it also carries an underlying social message, just like its predecessors.

The film is produced by Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik, the duo who’ve nurtured this genre into a bankable franchise. Direction comes from Aditya Sarpotdar, who previously gave audiences Munjya. With Thamma, he seems ready to push the boundaries even further, blending horror, humour, romance and folklore into one seamless package.
Thamma, which is scheduled for release on October 21, promises to be a combination of heartwarming, humorous, and frightening. And if the teaser is any indication, viewers can expect an exciting and surprisingly emotional experience.
