Manisha Koirala receives honorary doctorate from University of Bradford

Bollywood actress Manisha Koirala has added yet another feather to her cap, as she was recently awarded an Honorary Doctorate by the prestigious University of Bradford in the United Kingdom. The honour celebrates her remarkable journey — not through the conventional corridors of academia, but through a life enriched by resilience, passion, and service.

Taking to Instagram, the Dil Se.. actress shared a heartfelt video from the ceremony. In her caption, she reflected on the unconventional nature of her achievements, writing, “I stand here not as someone who came through the traditional path of education, but as someone who learned through life — through hard work, failure, resilience, and service.” She proudly referred to herself as a “student of life,” emphasizing that learning can happen beyond classrooms.

Koirala expressed her deep gratitude to the University of Bradford for recognizing her journey. “This honor means more than I can put into words,” she said, adding that the recognition affirms the value of personal growth and perseverance. “Thank you to the University of Bradford for seeing value in my story. Keep growing. Keep shining…”

The day also held emotional significance for Koirala on a personal level. She paid a touching tribute to her late grandmother, Sushila Koirala, in an emotional post, describing her as her “first teacher.” Remembering the woman who instilled in her the values that shaped her life, she wrote, “My sweetest childhood memories are attached to her — whether learning life lessons, learning Bharatanatyam or Manipuri dance, or reading a book.”
