Yo Yo Honey Singh has recently landed in trouble over objectionable lyrics used in his song, Millionaire. The Punjab women's panel took a suo motu notice of the "objectionable language" used by singers Karan Aujla and Yo Yo Honey Singh in their latest songs on Thursday. They have asked the police to investigate and take action on the matter.
The women's panel has sent the letter to the Police chief asking the singers to be present at the commission's office on August 11.
According to PTI, the panel's chairperson, Raj Lali Gill, noted that the commission has recently noticed that the singers Honey Singh and Karan Aujla have used their "objectionable language" in their songs Millionaire and MF Gabru, which are being played on social media.
He commission has asked the director general of police to immediately conduct an investigation or take action as per law in this regard. The letter reads, “The investigating officer should be instructed to ensure that the status report regarding the action taken and the singers concerned be present at the commission office on August 11.”
The letter stated that the women's commission may take suo motu cognisance of matters relating to the violation of the rights, dignity and safety of women in exercise of its powers under Section 12 of the Punjab State Commission for Women Act, 2001.
The letter further suggested that they take such matters very seriously and are committed to ensuring that the rights, dignity and status of women are protected.
