Hollywood actor Ryan Reynolds has recently received the highest honour from his hometown, the Freedom Of The City honour. The actor was beaming with pride following the prestigious honour.
In a private ceremony on Thursday, September 18, the Deadpool and Wolverine star received the Freedom of the City award from the City of Vancouver. The actor shared a glimpse of the award ceremony on his social media.
Ryan took to his Instagram and shared a series of photos of the special ceremony, expressing his gratitude for the honour.
Alongside the pictures, the actor penned in the caption, “Home is good for the battery. Thank you Mayor @kensimcity for the Freedom Of The City honour. Thank you to the Vancouver City Council. Vancouver is one of the great loves of my life, now and always. It’s a moving, growing and bursting beauty.”
Ryan, a native of Vancouver, was honoured for his cultural and philanthropic contributions, which included donations after the devastating floods in 2021 B.C. and support for organisations like Covenant House Vancouver and the Greater Vancouver Food Bank.
According to CBC, the actor reflected on the award and said, “This means the world to me. Vancouver shaped who I am, and I carry it with me in everything I do. To now be part of its history in this way is both humbling and surreal, and I'm deeply grateful to be recognised by the city that gave me my start.”
Previously, Ryan Reynolds has been awarded the Order of Canada as well as the Order of British Columbia.
On the work front, Ryan Reynolds recently received praise for how performance in Deadpool and Wolverine. The actor is now gearing up to star alongside Robert Downey Jr in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday. The film has reportedly wrapped up production.
