Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap revealed his “worst experience” working with Netflix, claiming the platform forced creative compromises on filmmakers. He said many directors, including himself, have stepped away from the streamer due to excessive interference and control.

Director Anurag Kashyap has recently shared his terrible experience of working with Netflix. He also claimed that several directors have chosen to leave Netflix because the streaming giant had required creative compromise.

The filmmaker also stated that people used to watch shows like CID, The Kapil Sharma Show, and Crime Patrol for free, but it has now been taken over by the streaming behemoth.

In his recent appearance on the Game Changers of India podcast by Komal Nahta, Anurag Kashyap expressed his frustration and shared, “Our worst experiences have been with Netflix. Isko cast karo, aise kahaani bolo, ye saari cheezein, aise mein I stepped back (Cast them, tell the story this way, all these things).”

He added, “Not just me but lots of filmmakers have stepped away. Baaki toh jo he so he (Rest of them are there). Hotstar is not pretending to be elite. It is massy, it was always massy. MXPlayer is free. Baki log ha ya na karte hain (Others say yes or no).”
