Anurag Basu calls Homebound a powerful film that made him ‘Feel Small’

Veteran filmmaker Anurag Basu recently opened up about how profoundly he was affected after watching the critically acclaimed film Homebound. Directed by Neeraj Ghaywan, the film, which stars Ishaan Khatter, Vishal Jethwa, and Janhvi Kapoor, has garnered attention not only for its storytelling but also for being shortlisted for the 98th Academy Awards in the Best International Feature Film category. In a conversation with the media, Basu admitted that Homebound made him “feel small” and left him emotionally shaken. He explained that the storytelling, performances, and cinematic execution created an experience so intense that he felt personally drawn into the characters’ journey.

Talking about Homebound, Anurag said, “Neeraj ka film dekhke, I really felt small. I messaged him also. Cinema itna accha hai na shayad aise logon se aapki mulaqat na ho. Aise situation pe aap na jaye lekin jab aap voh jeete hai na vahan baithke film ko, it really affected me. I have never been so affected. Shalini ka chappal wala scene aata hai, main toh hil hi gaya."
