At the 70th Filmfare Awards, Akshay Kumar turned mentor for the evening with a piece of advice for aspiring actors. While sharing the stage with Shah Rukh Khan and Karan Johar, Akshay humorously cautioned newcomers against locking themselves into restrictive multi-film contracts.

“I want to say just one thing to all the newcomers and the upcoming newcomers — never sign a 3-film deal with any producer,” Akshay said. The audience burst out in laughter and applause getting the reference from Aryan Khan’s directorial debut, The Ba***ds of Bollywood using it as a modern-day example of the pitfalls faced by debutants.

“You must have seen The Ba***ds of Bollywood and what our hero had to go through,” Akshay remarked. “The film makes it clear what a debutant should and should not do.”

Akshay added with a grin, “Do not sign a 3-movie deal. Give your debutant freedom, allow them to run away. As it’s said — let them free, if they belong to you, they will come back.” SRK and KJo broke into a laugh at this statement.
