Despite harsh criticism for its violent content and purportedly misogynistic undertones, Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Animal, starring Ranbir Kapoor, created a lot of buzz at the box office when it first came out and became a huge blockbuster.

Producer Bhushan Kumar talked candidly about the film's enormous success in a recent interview with ANI, attributing it primarily to the director's vision and confidence.

When asked to whom he would credit the success of Animal, Bhushan Kumar was unequivocal in his praise for Vanga. "Hai toh puri team ki lekin sabse zayada shrey main director ko dena chahunga kyunki Sandeep ka confidence level jo tha film ko leke, voh ek alag level pe tha. Kyunki different type ki film thi aur actor bahut interested that ki is tarah ki perfomance maine dii nahi hai. Par kisiko nahi pata tha kitni yeh film work karegi. Kitni criticism hui film ki uske bawajood bhi film ne itna bada number kiya," he said.

Bhushan emphasised how Vanga had been confident in the movie's potential from the beginning, despite the fact that the plot and Ranbir Kapoor's unprecedented performance style presented a serious risk. Ultimately, the movie defied expectations by earning ₹63.8 crore on its first day of release in India and a whopping ₹915 crore globally.

The movie's commercial impact was indisputable, even in spite of the criticism from viewers and public figures, including lyricist Javed Akhtar.
