Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said late former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi scrapped the "inheritance law to save his property".
"The facts relating to Inheritance Tax are eye-opening ... When former PM Indira Gandhi died, her children were going to get her property. But there was a rule earlier, that before the property goes to the children some part of it was taken by the government ... To save the property so that it does not go to the government, the then PM Rajiv Gandhi scrapped the inheritance law..." said PM Modi while addressing a public rally in Madhya Pradesh's Morena.

He also accused the Congress of using "religious appeasement as a pawn". "There is a Congress government in Karnataka ... They have declared all the people of the Muslim community in Karnataka as OBC. Congress added so many new people into the OBC community that earlier OBCs used to get reservations in education and government jobs but now the reservation they used to get was secretly snatched away from them..." he said.
The Prime Minister also warned the reservations of backward classes in Madhya Pradesh will be snatched away if the Congress comes to power in the state. "The Congress wants to confiscate people's jewellery and small savings by conducting X-ray of their properties and valuables," he said.

PM Modi said Chambal got a new recognition during the BJP regime. “The people of Madhya Pradesh know that once you get rid of a problem, you should always stay away from that problem. The Congress party is one such big anti-development problem and people should stay away from it. Congress made the bad law-and-order a symbol of Chambal during their regime," he said.
Taking a dig at Rahul Gandhi, the Prime Minister once again referred to him as shehzada and said, "These days, the prince of Congress is enjoying insulting. “He keeps on saying anything. Some people are unhappy with such language being used for the Prime Minister of the country. I request everyone that please don't be sad, don't be angry, they are 'naamdar' and we are ‘kaamdar’, he added.

Meanwhile, the Congress PM Modi of spreading lies to divert attention from real issues in the Lok Sabha polls and challenged him to point out where in the party's manifesto is 'redistribution of wealth' mentioned.
"First PM Modi tried to give a communal colour to our manifesto and then talked about things that are not there in the 'Nyay Patra'. It is propaganda based on lies," Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh said.
