Congress leader Pawan Khera on Friday launched an all-out attack on BJP-led NDA, terming it as "Naidu Dependent Alliance or Nitish Dependent Alliance."
"The people of Maharashtra have given a befitting reply to them (BJP)... They could not win a seat in Ayodhya and now you can see how they are abusing the people of Ayodhya... NDA's full form is Naidu Dependent Alliance or Nitish Dependent Alliance," he said.
His remarks came after the BJP this time failed to achieve the majority mark in the 543-member Lok Sabha and had to heavily depend on NDA alliance partners in order to form a government at the Centre. The saffron party secured 240 seats while NDA crossed the majority with 293 seats in the recently concluded Lok Sabha polls, the results of which were declared on June 4.
As the BJP fell short of the majority required to form a government, the support of TDP and JD(U) became crucial for Modi's third term as Prime Minister.
Meanwhile, earlier today, Modi was chosen as the leader of NDA parliamentary party during a meeting held in New Delhi. He will now take oath as the Prime Minister for a third time on June 9.
BJP allies JD(S) leader HD Kumarswamy, Shiv Sena chief Eknath Shinde, NCP chief Ajit Pawar, HAM(S) chief Jitan Ram Manjhi, TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu, JDU leader Nitish Kumar, among others supported the proposal moved by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to elect Modi as the leader of the NDA.
