CBSE 12th Chemistry Exam Review: Check Paper Analysis Based on Teachers' & Students' Feedback

The paper also included assertion-reasoning and case-based questions to test students' understanding and thinking skills. Some students felt time management was important since the paper was slightly long.

Vidush Gupta, a Class 12 student from Shiv Nadar School, Noida, said, “Most of the questions were directly from NCERT, but Section C required more time and careful thinking.” Praneel Munshi, another student, added, “Some questions from Electrochemistry were tricky and different from what we had seen in past papers, which made them a bit challenging.” Despite these few challenging moments, students felt the paper was balanced and manageable for those who had prepared consistently.

Khushi Mittal, a student of Seth Anandram Jaipuria School, Ghaziabad, said "The Chemistry Paper was moderate and based on NCERT. The numericals were straight forward. The definitions were more than expected. I found a problem in the case study."

Teachers’ and Experts’ Analysis

According to teachers and experts the paper was well-structured and in line with the CBSE syllabus. They appreciated the case-based and assertion-reasoning questions, as these encouraged understanding rather than memorisation. Experts said students who studied NCERT books and solved past papers would have found the exam easier.

Anshu Taneja, a teacher from Shiv Nadar School, Faridabad said that the CBSE Class 12 Chemistry paper was balanced and moderately difficult, featuring conceptual questions, numerical problems, and application-based scenarios. It was well-structured and aligned with the CBSE syllabus, emphasizing conceptual understanding over rote memorization. The exam required deep comprehension, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills to achieve high marks.

While some students found the numerical problems in Physical Chemistry, challenging, others perceived the Organic Chemistry section as intricate, with questions that were not straightforward. Students who had thoroughly studied the textbook, consistently practiced questions, and developed a strong conceptual foundation could confidently approach the paper and navigate its challenges effectively.

Sarita Khokhar, HOD Chemistry, at Seth Anandram Jaipuria School, Ghaziabad, said, that the paper contained questions of varying difficulty levels, from easy to moderate. It was based entirely on the NCERT curriculum, making it easier for students who had thoroughly studied the NCERT textbook and solved practice questions to score high marks.

From Section C, some Students found Electrochemistry (3 mark) questions challenging, which was based on theory. All sections were moderate in terms of difficulty level. The case study-based question subpart (2 marks) had an error and students were confused because of that. Numerical calculations were simple and required little effort. The paper provided a well-balanced mix of understanding, application, and memory-based questions. Students were able to complete it within the allotted time, and are anticipating good marks.

CBSE Class 12 Chemistry Paper 2025: Exam Structure

The exam followed the prescribed CBSE pattern and was divided into five sections:

• Section A: 16 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) of 1 mark each (16 marks).


• Section B: 5 very short answer questions of 2 marks each (10 marks).


• Section C: 7 short answer questions of 3 marks each (21 marks).


• Section D: 2 case-based questions of 4 marks each (8 marks).


• Section E: 3 long answer questions of 5 marks each (15 marks).

To pass, students must secure at least 33% in both theory and practical exams separately. The overall passing percentage for CBSE Class 12 is also 33%.
