The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued an addendum to its draft policy for conducting two Board Examinations for Class X, clarifying that the existing subjects and languages will continue to be offered in the 2025-2026 academic session. This comes in response to concerns raised regarding the exclusion of certain regional languages.

According to the addendum released on February 25, 2025, CBSE stated that the list of languages in the draft date sheet was only indicative and not final. The board reaffirmed that all languages currently available to students will remain unchanged, including Punjabi, Russian, Nepali, Limboo, Lepcha, Sindhi, Malayalam, Odia, Assamese, Kannada, Kokborok, Telugu, Arabic, and Persian.

The clarification follows strong objections raised by Punjab Education Minister Harjot Bains, who previously criticized CBSE’s draft exam policy for allegedly excluding Punjabi. The minister demanded that CBSE and the Union Minister for Education roll back any decision to remove Punjabi from the curriculum.
