The Hyundai Creta continued its bullish run, emerging as the best-selling SUV in July 2025, ahead of the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Mahindra Scorpio, Maruti Suzuki Fronx and Tata Nexon.
While the Creta garnered wholesales of 16,898 units in July, it was also the top-selling SUV in April and June at 17,016 units and 15,786 units, respectively, according to industry data.
At 64,560 units year-to-date in FY26, the Creta is not only the largest-selling SUV but also only behind Maruti Suzuki's Dzire sedan (71,459 units) in terms of overall passenger vehicle (PV) volumes.
For reference, the Creta ended FY25 with its highest-ever annual domestic wholesales at 1.95 lakh units.
The Creta is offered in both traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) version and as an electric vehicle (EV).
For buyers opting for the ICE variant, there are three engine choices -- a 1.5-litre MPi petrol producing 115PS and 144Nm, a 1.5-litre Kappa Turbo GDi petrol delivering 160PS and 253Nm, and a 1.5-litre U2 CRDi diesel generating 116PS and 250Nm of torque.
Transmission options vary depending on the engine. The 1.5-litre MPi petrol can be paired with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or an IVT automatic. The 1.5-litre Kappa Turbo GDi petrol comes with a 7-speed DCT automatic, while the 1.5-litre U2 CRDi diesel offers a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic.
For those seeking a sportier drive, there is the Creta N Line, which is equipped with the 1.5-litre Kappa Turbo GDi petrol engine, available with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT transmission.
The Creta Electric variant is available with two battery pack options -- 42kWh and 51.4kWh. The smaller battery provides a claimed range of 390km, while the larger battery extends the range up to a claimed 473km.
Pricing for the Creta line-up (ex-showroom) is as follows -- the standard model is priced from Rs 11.11 lakh to Rs 20.50 lakh, the Creta N Line ranges from Rs 16.93 lakh to Rs 20.64 lakh, and the Creta Electric is available between Rs 17.99 lakh and Rs 24.38 lakh.
When the Creta was first launched by Hyundai in 2015, the mid-size SUV segment consisted of just three vehicles. By 2025, this space has expanded to 14 models, yet the Creta has maintained its leadership position, ranking as the segment’s best-seller every year since 2016.
The Creta’s sales performance underscores its popularity—over 12 lakh units have been sold in India so far, and its annual volumes have more than doubled since 2016. Additionally, Hyundai has exported 2.87 lakh units of the Creta to more than 13 international markets.
