Pakistan to begin United Nations Security Council presidency for a month: What all is on July's agenda - Explained

Pakistan will be beginning the presidency of the United Nations Security Council - the world body's power centre - for the month of July 2025 on Tuesday.  Pakistan's presidency of the UN Security Council is part of its two-year term as a non-permanent member of the UNSC that began in January 2025.

Pak Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad told the state-run Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) correspondent at the UN, “Pakistan's Presidency will be transparent, inclusive and responsive.”

What would happen during Pak's presidency?

Pak Ambassador Iftikhar will preside over the Council meetings on key global issues in July.
