17 Tesla cars destroyed in fire at company dealership in Rome amid anti-Musk protests

At least 17 Tesla cars were destroyed in a fire that broke out overnight at a company dealership in Rome, reported news agency Reuters quoting firefighters. It is yet to ascertained as to what caused the blaze, they said.

Italian news agencies said investigators were looking into various possible causes, including arson.

Emergency services intervened at 04.30 a.m. (0230 GMT) in the eastern neighbourhood of Torre Angela, a statement from the fire brigades said, adding that nobody had been injured.

The incident comes amid Elon Musk’s company facing backlash and protests around the world in response to his political activities. Several incidents of Tesla vehicles being vandalized in Italy have been reported recently in protest against Musk and US President Donald Trump.
