Bengaluru’s iconic Cubbon Park has opened its gates to its 11-day flower show, bringing a Lalbagh-style floral experience to the heart of the city. The event, organised by the Department of Horticulture, runs from November 27 to December 7, and blends the themes of Children’s Day and Karnataka Rajyotsava.
The stretch from the Jayachamarajendra Wadiyar statue to Bal Bhavan has been transformed into a vibrant walkway lined with thousands of blooms, cultural exhibits, and art installations—marking the beginning of what is expected to become an annual tradition.
A New Floral Tradition for Bengaluru
While Lalbagh has long been the city’s centrepiece for flower shows during Independence Day and Republic Day, Cubbon Park is now set to host its own grand edition every year. For this inaugural event, nearly Rs 40 lakh has been allocated, allowing organisers to create a large-scale showcase inspired by Bengaluru’s most celebrated garden event.
More than 50,000 flower pots have been prepared, featuring rare flowers sourced from across India and abroad. Themed installations have been designed using multiple varieties of blooms to reflect the twin celebrations of the season.
Floral Displays, Art Exhibitions and Cultural Programmes
The exhibition brings together over 100 varieties of flowers and plants, including Ikebana-inspired displays. Visitors can expect floral arches, character installations themed around Children’s Day, and creative arrangements celebrating Karnataka’s heritage.
One of the biggest additions this year is an art zone, featuring works by several artists, including pieces by noted Karnataka painter Rumale Chennabasaviah. Cultural programmes will run through the 11 days, ranging from classical music concerts to folk dance performances. Competitions for children and students are also part of the schedule.
Stalls, Shopping and Food Counters
More than 100 stalls have been set up along the route. These include plant nurseries, gardening equipment sellers, handicraft stalls, and counters offering homemade products. Food kiosks ensure visitors have plenty of refreshments as they make their way through the exhibits.
Expected Footfall and Visitor Experience
Officials expect the show to attract more than two lakh visitors, especially over weekends. To manage crowds, the exhibition corridor—starting at the Fountain Circle near the Bandstand and extending up to the Bal Bhavan Gate—has been designed as a one-way flow for easy movement.
The show is open daily from 6 am to 7 pm, making it accessible to early morning walkers as well as evening visitors.
