The YouTube Trending section replaced YouTube Rewind in 2020, and it showcases the biggest trends found by fans across different geographies globally.

This year’s YouTube Trending report emphasizes on major cultural moments like the Cricket World Cup, the Olympic Games, the Ambani wedding, and multiple hit movies. All of these moments captured the highest views on YouTube and generated lots of polarizing opinions or comments from users.

In 2024, popular Shorts videos from regional hits in Marathi and Garhwali generated the most views, while artists like Hanumankind with its Big Dawgs song gained global popularity. Cristiano Ronaldo’s YouTube channel grew to over 19 million subscribers in the first 24 hours, which was also mostly driven by Indian YouTube users.
