Xiaomi has finally announced the launch date of the Xiaomi 15 series in India. The company is expected to unveil the Xiaomi 15 and 15 Ultra smartphones on the day. Notably, the phones were also launched in China in October last year and the Indian variants are expected to mimic the same features and specifications. These smartphones could also offer performance upgrades and get new AI features to improve the overall user experience.
Xiaomi 15 series: Launch date
Xiaomi has confirmed that it will debut the Xiaomi 15 series on March 2, just ahead of this year’s Mobile World Congress (MWC). This comes after the Xiaomi India page retweeted the Xiaomi Global launch date confirmation post, stating, ‘Mark your calendars for March 2nd. Be prepared to witness #TheNextPinnacle #XiaomiLaunch #Xiaomi15Series.’
Xiaomi 15 series: Expected specifications, features, price
According to the latest reports and rumours, the Xiaomi 15 is expected to come with a 6.36-inch 120Hz LTPO OLED display with a 1.5K resolution. Under the hood, the device will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset coupled with 12GB RAM and up to 1TB UFS 4.0 storage. Further, it may be backed by a 5,500 mAh battery and support 90W fast charging.
On the other hand, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is expected to come with a bigger 6.73-inch 2K quad-curved 120Hz LTPO display. It is also expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC and get up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage. In terms of battery, the device will feature a larger 6,100 mAh battery and support 90W fast charging.
In terms of camera, the Xiaomi 15 series will have a Leica-tuned camera system. However, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra will likely feature a periscope-style telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom, whereas the Xiaomi 15 will have 3x optical zoom. The front camera on both smartphones is anticipated to be a 32MP lens.
The Xiaomi 15 Ultra was launched in China at a starting price of CNY 6,499 (around Rs 78,000), while the Xiaomi 15’s base model was launched at CNY 4,499 (around Rs 53,000). However, according to reports, the Xiaomi 15 is expected to cost around Rs 70,000 in India and the Xiaomi 15 Ultra could be priced below Rs 1,00,000.
