SIM card fraud: How to check if your name is used for another mobile number using Sanchar Saathi

The DoT’s Sanchar Saathi portal lets you check how many SIM cards are registered using your Aadhaar number. If you find an unknown number, you can report it and get it disconnected to prevent identity misuse.

With SIM card fraud on the rise, it’s possible someone might be using your identity—especially your Aadhaar number—to register a mobile connection without your knowledge. To tackle this, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has introduced a simple tool on the Sanchar Saathi portal under its TAFCOP system. This service allows users to quickly check how many mobile numbers are registered using their ID.

As per government rules, one Aadhaar number can be linked to a maximum of nine active SIMs across India, and up to six in Jammu & Kashmir, Assam, and the North Eastern states.
