Japanese video game developer Sega is going to delist nine of its retro games for Android and iOS that were re-released as part of the Sega Forever programme, as per a report by Android Authority. The nine mobile game titles include: Crazy Taxi Classic, Golden Axe Classics, Shining Force Classics, Sonic CD Classic, Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode II, Streets of Rage Classic, Streets of Rage 2 Classic, Super Monkey Ball: Sakura and Virtua Tennis Challenge. Of the nine, Golden Axe Classics and Shining Force Classics each comprise three games, which makes the total number of games 13.
According to the report, the nine retro re-releases have begun displaying pop-up screens with an “end of service” message that says: “Support for this game will be discontinued, but you can continue playing offline! If you’d like to learn more about more great SEGA games to play, please click the link below.” The player can choose to learn more by going to the “More info” option, or just press “OK” on their mobile device to acknowledge the service termination message.
As per the report, all the in-app purchases have been removed from Sega’s nine retro titles. Earlier, to remove the ads from the game, players had to make a one-time in-app purchase.
To be able to play offline after the Sega games get delisted, it would be wise to claim them on the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store as soon as you can. That way, you get to have them in your library and still play once official support is taken down.
Sega has yet to confirm when the retro titles will be taken down from the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store.
