Samsung is scheduled to launch the Galaxy S25 Edge device this week, which would be the fourth S25 device to be launched this year after the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra. However, based on traditions, the company is expected to launch a fifth S25 smartphone this year, which could be the Galaxy S25 FE. Until now, rumours indicated that this upcoming Fan Edition smartphone would use the same Exynos 2400e chipset as last year's Galaxy S24 FE. However, the company might have plans to use a MediaTek Dimensity chipset instead.

According to a report by NotebookCheck, citing anonymous industry sources, Samsung is considering powering the upcoming Galaxy S25 FE with MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400 chipset. Previous reports and leaks claimed that Samsung would prioritize the Exynos 2400e for the Galaxy S25 FE. However, if the South Korean tech giant is unable to meet the Exynos chips’ production demands, it may resort to the MediaTek chipset as a backup.

The Exynos 2400e chipset is expected to be used in the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE foldable, and it would make sense to use this processor again for the Galaxy S25 FE, since an in-house chipset reduces the production cost. However, the final hardware decision is expected to hinge on market conditions closer to launch, which is expected to happen at the end of the third quarter.
