Qualcomm looking at acquiring Intel, claims report

Qualcomm, which recently marked its entry in PC processors, is reportedly considering a takeover of Intel. According to a report by The Wall Street Journal, Qualcomm has approached Intel about a potential acquisition. However, the deal is described as “far from certain” and would likely face significant regulatory scrutiny.

Things haven’t been going too well for Intel as it has has faced increasing competition and financial challenges in recent years. The company recently reported a $1.6 billion loss and announced plans to lay off over 10,000 employees.

Intel is reportedly valued at $87 billion, the company's shares have plummeted by 60% in just this year. This drastic downturn can be traced to increased competition, technological shifts, and perhaps strategic missteps.

One of the most significant blows to Intel came in 2020 when it lost one of its largest customer, Apple. The Cupertino-based tech giant’s transition from Intel-based processors to its own custom-designed M-series chips, built on the ARM architecture, marked a major shift in the industry.
