Microsoft Teams, the collaboration platform used for meetings, messaging and file sharing across Microsoft 365, is currently experiencing service disruptions. Users from multiple regions have reported problems accessing core features of the platform, raising concerns among organisations that rely on Teams for daily communication and collaboration.
Downdetector, a website that tracks service interruptions, shows a sharp increase in reports indicating that the issue is affecting a large number of users at the same time. The spike in complaints suggests that the disruption is not limited to a single region or network, but is instead impacting a wider user base.
The outage has affected several Teams functions, including calls, meetings and chat services, which are widely used by businesses, schools and organisations.
Problems users are facing
User reports indicate that audio quality issues are the most common problem during the outage. Downdetector data suggests that around 82 percent of complaints relate to audio problems, including choppy calls and disrupted conversations.
Other reported problems include app-related issues accounting for around 10 percent of complaints, where users say the application is not functioning properly. Another 7 percent of reports relate to video quality, with users experiencing lag and disruptions during video meetings.
Several users have said meetings are dropping unexpectedly or failing to connect. Some have also reported delays in chat message delivery, with messages appearing several minutes after being sent.
Other complaints include difficulty generating meeting links, problems accessing shared files stored in Teams and images loading slowly within chats. Some users also reported issues transferring calls and creating meetings.
Users experiencing the problem say the disruptions are occurring both while connected to corporate VPN networks and outside VPN connections.
Downtime details
Downdetector data indicates that outage reports began rising early in the morning, with a noticeable spike around 9 PM, after which the number of complaints continued to increase.
The outage map on Downdetector shows reports coming from several regions, suggesting that the issue is widespread rather than confined to a single location or network.
Some users have also reported delays of up to 10 minutes in chat message delivery, while others have experienced problems recording meetings or accessing files saved within Teams.
Microsoft has not yet issued an official statement about the disruption. The service remains unstable for some users as organisations monitor the situation and wait for further updates.
