The Mahindra XEV 9S has been announced and it is basically the EV version of the outgoing model -- XUV 700 and the company has also dropped the teaser video for the new XUV 7XO with the similar triple screen setup. considering both the cards are based similar in multiple ways, it is expected the screen setup will remain similar in both. That said, both of them are a tech loaded package with a strong focus on digital interfaces, in-car entertainment, and passenger comfort. Here's what to expect from the triple screen setup of both the cars.
Triple-screen dashboard layout explained
The teaser shows a wide, coast-to-coast dashboard integrating three displays under a single glass panel. This layout appears similar in structure to the XEV 9S, where each screen serves a distinct function rather than operating as a single merged interface
Driver display or speedometer
The driver display is expected to function as a fully digital instrument cluster, presenting driving information such as speed, navigation prompts, alerts, and vehicle data. At the centre, the main infotainment touchscreen is likely to manage navigation, media, climate controls, and connected car features.
The infotainment system -- center display
At the centre sits the main infotainment touchscreen, which controls navigation, audio, climate settings, connected car functions, and vehicle customisation. It supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, built-in apps, and 5G connectivity. This screen also links with smart climate modes such as Camp Mode and Keep Mode, designed for extended stationary use.
The front passenger display is a dedicated screen for entertainment and content consumption. It allows the co-passenger to access media, streaming platforms, and apps independently, without interfering with driver-focused functions. This separation helps reduce distractions while improving overall cabin usability.
16-speaker Harman Kardon audio with Dolby Atmos (confirmed only for XEV 9S)
The triple-screen setup on 9S is complemented by a 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system with Dolby Atmos support. The system is designed to create a multi-directional soundstage, moving beyond traditional left-right surround audio.
Speakers are distributed across the dashboard, doors, and rear sections of the cabin to ensure consistent sound delivery across all three rows. Dolby Atmos processing enhances spatial depth, making music, movies, and even navigation cues feel more immersive. The system is tuned to maintain clarity at lower volumes and balanced output during highway cruising.
Dual rear displays for second-row passengers on XEV 9S
Select variants of the XEV 9S also offer dual entertainment screens for rear passengers, mounted behind the front seats. These displays allow second-row occupants to stream videos, access apps, or consume media independently.
Each screen operates separately, enabling personalised content for different passengers. USB Type-C charging ports and wireless charging support extended usage, making the setup suitable for long journeys. Combined with ambient lighting and rear climate controls, the second row is designed to function as a self-contained entertainment zone.
Price, variants, and booking details
The Mahindra XEV 9S is priced starting at Rs 19.95 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base variant. The fully loaded Pack Three Above variant with the 79 kWh battery is priced at Rs 29.45 lakh (ex-showroom).
Mahindra has confirmed that bookings will open on January 14, 2026, while deliveries are scheduled to begin from January 23, 2026. Test drives are expected to commence earlier in January 2026, ahead of the official delivery window.
The XUV 7XO pre-booking has started too.
Focus on digital and connected features
Although Mahindra has not revealed hardware details, the triple-screen layout suggests support for connected services, multimedia playback, and smartphone integration. Features such as wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are expected, based on Mahindra’s recent launches.
The screen-heavy design also indicates that the XUV 7XO will prioritise software-driven controls, reducing reliance on physical buttons and switches across the dashboard.
