Early adopters of the iPhone 17 and iPhone Air are reporting connectivity problems affecting Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and wireless CarPlay. Multiple posts on Reddit and Apple’s support forums describe scenarios where devices disconnect from Wi-Fi when unlocked or when users view the Lock Screen.

The problems extend to wireless CarPlay, which relies on Wi-Fi. Drivers have reported laggy performance, skipped audio, and connection drops while using the system. Bluetooth devices, including AirPods and third-party accessories, are also experiencing random dropouts.

A recurring pattern in the complaints suggests the issues appear when users wear and unlock an Apple Watch. In such cases, unlocking the iPhone triggers a momentary loss of Wi-Fi connectivity, which interrupts both Bluetooth and CarPlay sessions. The phone quickly reconnects, but the interruptions are noticeable and frustrating.

Given that all iPhone 17 models include Apple’s new N1 wireless chip, some initial speculation centred around hardware. However, users testing the upcoming iOS 26.1 beta report that the problems disappear after updating, pointing to software as the likely culprit. Apple is also preparing iOS 26.0.1, which could include a fix for the issue.
