Meta has announced new updates for its Messenger platform. As a part of the update, the social media giant has announced new AI-powered features and community tools at its IRL event in Austin.
Messenger Communities
Messenger Communities is a new tool that allows users to create and manage topic-based chat groups without requiring a Facebook Group. The feature includes built-in moderation tools and allows community growth through Facebook friend invites or QR codes. Early testing shows college students using these communities to coordinate campus activities and share class information.
Users can now access "Imagine Yourself" in Feed and Stories composers, as well as on Profile pages. The company also rolled out AI Comment Summaries for public Groups, Pages, and Creator posts to help users track conversations more efficiently.

Other new features coming to Messenger
In addition, the Notes feature that was introduced earlier this year now supports music integration and mention capabilities. Facebook has already started testing these two features on its app as well.
That’s not it, the company has also launched Memories, a feature that surfaces old photos from Messenger chats for users to revisit and share.
