Google Chrome has officially become the first iPhone app from Google to adopt Apple’s new Liquid Glass design, introduced with iOS 26. The changes arrive with Chrome version 141 and bring a refreshed, more modern look to the browser on iPhone and iPad. Users will now see softer edges, rounded menus and updated interface elements that match Apple’s latest design language.
With iOS 26, Apple introduced the Liquid Glass aesthetic, which focuses on transparency, depth and rounded shapes across the system. Google has wasted no time in bringing these elements into Chrome. The update makes Chrome the first Google app on iOS to embrace the style, while other apps from the company continue to use older design systems.
The changes are most noticeable in the Tab Grid. The Incognito button, tab switcher, tab group controls and search option have all been redesigned to match the new visual direction. The Edit and Done buttons beneath the grid also now carry the same rounded, softened look. Context menus have been reworked as well, moving away from the blurred background effect towards a cleaner, flatter style.
The bottom sheet has also been rethought. Instead of stretching edge to edge, it now has rounded corners and curved menu items, creating a more cohesive appearance with iOS 26. In Settings, users will find new icons such as a Done checkmark, along with redesigned toggles that match Apple’s updated interface. Chrome has even added a new tab-loading indicator, replacing the familiar circular animation with the iOS pinwheel style.
Another noticeable change is in the keyboard area. iOS 26 introduces a redesigned keyboard with rounded keys and panels, and Chrome adds its own extra shortcut row. This row provides quick access to Google Lens, voice search, and useful keys like “.com” and slash. Previously attached to the keyboard, it now appears as a floating rectangle for a sleeker look.
Chrome on iOS already had some differences compared to its Android counterpart, such as the bottom address bar introduced in October 2023. Android only gained the feature in July 2025. Chrome also offers a unique Tab Grid layout and bottom sheet menu that are not identical to the Android version, making it a good candidate to adopt Liquid Glass early.
For now, Chrome remains the only Google app on iOS to feature the new design. Others such as Gmail, Maps and Photos still use Material 3, while Keep, Calendar and Tasks continue with the older Material Theme, leaving the interface landscape somewhat inconsistent. It remains to be seen how quickly Google will roll out Liquid Glass elements to its wider app ecosystem.
